Investigation Ongoing as Officials Decide on Charges

A fatal accident involving a pickup and a semi-truck along Iowa Highway 65/69 remains under investigation while authorities and the Warren County Attorney’s Office work to determine whether charges should be filed against the commercial truck driver. According to WHO-TV, a portion of the highway was shut down after a pickup truck collided with the semi and became stuck underneath it. The driver of the commercial truck was not injured in the collision.

Initial accident reports indicate the crash victim was likely unable to see the semi-truck trailer after the driver of the semi traveling northbound attempted to make a U-turn into the highway’s southbound lanes. Part of the tractor-trailer was still in the northbound lanes at the time of the crash, and the 22-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the accident scene soon after. Whether the family of the accident victim will press charges against the truck driver or his company is not yet known, the website reported.
