Investigators Looking into Crash as Possible Felony Vehicular Assault

Speed ranks third as a cause of Washington’s deadly car crashes, and it is again thought to be a factor in a possible felony vehicular assault that left one person in critical condition and several others, including two senior citizens, with injuries. According to the Seattle Times, it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were also factors in the collision that occurred along Auburn’s Highway 167, though this will likely be revealed pending further investigation.

According to reports, the car carrying the two seniors was struck by a Mercedes that had crossed lanes while traveling at a high rate of speed. The force of the impact caused the seniors’ car to flip over several times, and both passengers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for their injuries. The driver of the Mercedes is still listed in critical condition, and it is not yet known whether he will face criminal charges of civil penalties for his role in the crash.
