The DePuy Pinnacle hip implant is a total hip replacement system by DePuy Orthopaedics, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. It was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2000. The DePuy Pinnacle is a total hip arthroplasty meant to provide an increase in mobility while reducing the amount of pain in patients with hip joints that are damaged. Like patients who received ASR hip replacements, it seems that recipients of the DePuy Pinnacle hip replacement also face increased risks of hip failure as did recipients of the ASR hip replacement, which was recalled in August 2010. Both of these hip replacement systems have similar defects in design, which can lead to dislocation of the hip implant, severe pain and hip replacement failure. Even though the DePuy Pinnacle implant was not included in the August 2010 DePuy ASR hip recall, they are also metal-on-metal implant devices, and therefore carry many similar adverse side effects experienced commonly by recipients of an ASR hip implant. Due to the design defects associated with metal-on-metal implants, like with the ASR hip systems, several recipients of a DePuy Pinnacle hip replacement implant have had to undergo painful and costly revision surgeries. If you have suffered any complications following implantation of a defective DePuy Pinnacle hip replacement, you may be able to seek monetary compensation by filing a DePuy Pinnacle hip replacement lawsuit to help cover your medical costs, pain and suffering, lost income and more.
