Have you received a Wright Conserve artificial hip? Call Arkansas Attorney Group today. Our member Arkansas Wright Conserve Hip Recall Attorneys are now pursuing product liability lawsuits for patients who have experienced complications after receiving a Wright Conserve artificial hip. The complications you have experienced may be caused by defective designs with the artificial implant. The Wright Conserve is a metal-on-metal implant design which has been linked to significant problems in similar implant designs by other manufacturers. Affiliated Arkansas Wright Conserve Hip Recall Attorneys at Arkansas Attorney Group are now evaluating claims from Wright Conserve hip implant recipients throughout Arkansas who are dealing with complications from a defective hip implant.

Compensation may be available via a Wright Conserve hip lawsuit because of the manufacturer’s failure to properly test the effects of the metal-on-metal hip replacement system or provide adequate warnings about the risks of the implant loosening or failing within a few years after surgery. An additional revision surgery is usually not needed or anticipated to be required within years of the original surgery and any complications to suggest otherwise should raise concerns for you.

Common Problems With Wright Conserve Artificial Hip Implants

The Wright Conserve hip replacement is a metal-on-metal artificial hip replacement system which can release metal debris into the hip joint as well as surrounding tissue. The metal femoral head made from cobalt-chromium rotates within the metal acetabular cup, also made from cobalt-chromium, often resulting in the release of particles. The result of this process could lead to tissue necrosis, metallosis, pseudotumors among other problems as the particles move throughout a patient’s body.

Approved by the FDA in November 2009, the Wright Conserve Plus Total Resurfacing Hip System has been implanted in many patients throughout the United States. Although it was marketed as an alternative to other hip implant replacement devices, the Wright Conserve Hip System has been failing in recipients soon after surgery. It is suggested by reports that this model of hip implant system may be prone to failure within just a few years following the original surgery rather than the expected 15 plus years that other implant devices are expected to last.

Typical hip implants consist of components made of metal and plastic. The Wright Conserve has three components that are all made of metal – the femoral head, taper insert and acetabular cup. This poses a problem for many recipients because as the metal components rub together with one another, microscopic shavings of metal debris are shed into the hip joint and surrounding tissue. This often causes implant loosening, inflammation and other problems, including metal toxicity.

Signs of Wright Conserve Plus hip problems can include:

  • Unexplained hip pain
  • Difficulties with walking or standing
  • Unexplained tumors
  • Swelling
  • Tissue damage
  • Loosening of the implant
  • High levels of metal in the blood
  • Additional revision surgery
