In California, three man have filed lawsuits seeking damages for injuries that they allegedly suffered when the batteries in their e-cigarettes unexpectedly exploded. According to The Los Angeles Daily News, all of the lawsuits name the companies that produced and sold the devices, and all three plaintiffs claim that the unsafe products directly caused their injuries. Two plaintiffs allege that they suffered serious burns when the e-cig devices exploded. One of these plaintiffs also sustained facial fractures, while the third plaintiff experienced partial loss of a digit, along with mouth, tongue and teeth injuries.
Consumer reports suggest that e-cigarette batteries can explode during use, charging or periods of inactivity.
