Georgia Semi Truck Accident Involves Bus

Georgia semi truck accidentOn August 20, 2014, all westbound lanes of I-20 in west Georgia were closed for approximately three hours following a fiery crash involving a converted school bus and a FedEx tandem-trailer truck. The crash, which happened during the early morning rush hour in Carroll County, occurred after the bus was reportedly rear-ended by the semi truck.

According to officials, the bus was traveling at a slow rate of speed in the right lane, and after impact, both vehicles veered off the right shoulder of the highway and eventually overturned. At some point, according to a Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman, both vehicles caught on fire.

Importance of Seeking Legal Counsel

If you or someone you love has been involved in a Georgia semi truck accident, it may be beneficial to have an experienced semi truck accident lawyer on your side.

He or she can help you to build a solid case to ensure that you have the opportunity to recover the compensation to which you may be entitled and may speak to insurance companies on your behalf. If the extent of your injuries is significant, a semi truck accident attorney may also be able to arrange for medical experts to testify on your behalf as to your condition and the long-term prognosis of your injuries.

Additionally, there may be more than one party who may be held responsible for compensation for your injuries other than the driver of the semi truck, including the manufacturer of the truck, the owner of the cargo, the trucking company, government entities responsible for road maintenance, the mechanic responsible for inspecting or fixing the truck, and more. For this reason, it is important to work with an attorney who understands the complexity of these types of cases and who can work with you to ensure that you hold the appropriate parties responsible for your condition.
