Severe Bleeding May Have Led to the Death of Georgia Man

The estate of a Georgia man seeks damages to cover attorneys’ fees, pre and post-judgment interest and related expenditures after the man suffered severe and permanent injuries and uncontrollable bleeding allegedly caused by the prescription drug Xarelto. According to The Louisiana Record, the lawsuit contends that the defendants failed to properly test, study or offer adequate instructions for using Xarelto, but that they continued to manufacture and market it anyway.

Defendants in the case include Janssen Research & Development LLC and Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Inc., among others. Because of the defendants’ negligence, the suit alleges, the victim suffered mental anguish, pain, hospitalization and medical expenses and diminished quality of life, among other losses, prior to his death. Additional complaint details reveal that the victim took the anticoagulant drug for a period of less than a month, and that a trial by jury is sought by the plaintiff.
