The derailment of an Altamont Corridor Express train in northern California left nine passengers with injuries that ranged from mild to severe. Fox News reports that the accident occurred during rainy conditions, when a mudslide apparently deposited fallen trees onto the train tracks. The collision caused the two lead cars of the train to depart the tracks. While the second car remained upright, the front car tipped over and fell into a creek below.
