Report: First, Second, and Third Degree Burns Linked to the Vehicles

Polaris Industries Inc. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) are recalling about 133,000 recreational off-highway vehicles that are reportedly prone to catching fire during use. According to the USCPSC recall notice, these recreational vehicle fires have caused first, second or third-degree burn injuries to at least 19 people, and a fire that occurred after a rollover has been implicated in the death of one rider. Furthermore, Polaris has received notice of at least 140 other fires that, fortunately, did not cause any reported injuries.

The recalled models, which are the 2013 to 2016 model years of the RZR 900 and RZR 1000 lines, were sold between July 2012 and July 2016. People who own any of these models are encouraged to visit Polaris’ website to determine whether the recall includes their specific vehicle. Polaris is offering free repairs and urging all owners to stop using their vehicles until a repair can be completed, the website reported.
