Product Recalls for the Week of December 5, 2016:

  • Walnut Ladies Finger Cookies: Golden Star International Inc. is recalling its 10-oz. packages of “Walnut Ladies Finger Cookies” food treats because they may contain undeclared Eggs and Soybean oil/lecithin. People who have allergies to these allergens run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The recalled cookies were distributed through retail National Wholesale Liquidator stores in N.Y and N.J. The product comes in a 10-oz., clear plastic package marked with UPC # 6 4474469876 7, with an expiration date of 11/14/16 stamped on the side. Consumers who have purchased the product are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Recall Date: 11/02/2016
  • Chocolate Hazelnut Butter CLIF® Nut Butter Filled Energy Bars: Clif Bar & Company is initiating a voluntary Class II recall of one production run of Chocolate Hazelnut Butter CLIF® Nut Butter Filled energy bars due to the presence of small plastic pieces found in a limited number of bars sold in the U.S. Clif Bar has not received any reports of injuries as a result of the plastic; however, the company is initiating the voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution. Affected products include individual bars of Chocolate Hazelnut Butter CLIF® Nut Butter Filled energy bars with “best by” dates of 10JUN17N4 or 11JUN17N4 and 12-count caddies of Chocolate Hazelnut Butter CLIF® Nut Butter Filled energy bars with “best by” dates of 10JUN17N4 or 11JUN17N4. UPC Codes: Bar: 7-22252-26800-6; 12-count Caddy: 7-22252-36800-3; and Case: 00722252-56800-7. The company is asking consumers to return product to the store where purchased to request an exchange or full refund. Affected product should then be discarded and not consumed. Recall Date: 11/18/2016
  • Snow Monkey Goji Berry and Cacao 8oz. Pods: FMIF Holdings, LLC is recalling Snow Monkey Goji Berry and Cacao 8oz. pods because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The potentially at risk products are: 8 ounce Snow Monkey Subzero Superfood in Cacao delivered from online order between May and June 2016, Barcode reads ‘000000000000 Sample Only – Not for Resale;’ and 8 ounce Snow Monkey Subzero Superfood in in Goji Berry delivered from online order between May and June 2016, Barcode reads ‘000000000000 Sample Only – Not for Resale.’ Products were distributed via online order between May and June 2016 in CA, MO, MA, NY, FL, IL, NV, AZ, TX, HI, OR, CO, D.C., MI, CT, ME, NJ, NH. None of these products were sold at retail locations. The products are packed in 8oz plastic pods with sticker labels. The Barcode reads ‘000000000000 Sample Only – Not for Resale.’ Barcode can be found printed horizontally on the side of the label next to the nutritional facts. The recall is the result of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) finding samples positive for Listeria monocytogenes in the facility of the contract manufacturer, Dr. Bob’s of Upland, LLC and in finished product of an unrelated company’s brand that was manufactured at Dr. Bob’s facility, leading the contract manufacturer to recall all ice cream products produced this year at its facility. Other products potentially at risk include: 8 ounce Subzero Superfood in Cacao delivered from online order between May and June 2016 and 8 ounce Subzero Superfood in in Goji Berry delivered from online order between May and June 2016. If you still have 8oz pods of Subzero Superfood in your freezer we highly recommend you do not consume it and throw it away. Recall Date: 11/23/2016
  • Derby City Vending Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches: Derby City Vending is recalling there Buffalo Chicken Sandwich because it may contain undeclared milk, egg and soy product. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, egg or soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was distributed to Kentucky and Indiana through delivery to vending food machines. This product is in a black square container with a clear lid with the Derby City Vending label. It is identified on the label as Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with a best buy date of up to 12/4/16.   • Ready-to-Eat Herring Products: Royal Seafood Baza, Inc. is recalling various refrigerated ready to eat herring products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected ready to eat herring products were distributed to customers located New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, and North Carolina. Wholesale customers of bulk containers must discontinue sales of existing stock of these items immediately and destroy any returned product as soon as possible. A complete list of recalled products can be found here. The Bulk Herring products have pack dates of “11/2/16” – “11/30/16”.  The Herring products packaged in retail containers have Best Before dates of: 11.30.2016 through 02.28.2017. Herring products packaged in vacuum packaged bags include Pack Dates of 11.09.16 – 11.30.16. Consumers who purchased any of these products and still have them on-hand are urged not to consume them and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or to discard them.   • Phil-Am Smoked Mackeral (Hasa-Hasa): Phil-am Trading, Inc. is recalling Phil-am Smoked Mackerel (Hasa-Hasa), because it has the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death. Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled. Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, can cause the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention. Phil-am Smoked Mackerel (Hasa-Hasa) was distributed in New Jersey, New York, Georgia and Pennsylvania. Phil-am Smoked Mackerel (Hasa-Hasa) comes in 200 g. (7.05 oz) packs and is packaged in a clear flexible plastic pouch and is topped by a predominantly red tag affixed to the top seal which has the product’s information. Its UPC code is 814487015147, and the product was distributed to stores between February and November 2016. Consumers who have purchased Phil-am Smoked Mackerel (Hasa-Hasa) are urged to not consume it, and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Recall Date: 12/03/2016
  • Ready-to-Eat Chicken Products: National Steak and Poultry is recalling approximately 1,976,089 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products due to adulteration because of possible undercooking, resulting in the potential survival of bacterial pathogens in the products, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. This release is being reissued as an expansion of the November 23, 2016, release to include additional products and production dates. The initial recall included 17,439 pounds of product. This expansion includes an additional 1,976,089 pounds of product, for a total of 1,993,528 pounds of product. Details of this release were also updated to reflect a change in distribution. The scope of this recall expansion now includes a variety of ready-to-eat chicken products that were produced on various dates from August 20, 2016 through November 30, 2016. A list of the additional products subject to recall is listed here. The cases containing the products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-6010T” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to food service locations nationwide and were sold directly to retail consumers at the establishments’ monthly dock sale. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 12/04/2016
  • SafeHarbor Windows: Atrium Windows and Doors Inc. is recalling its SafeHarbor vinyl impact windows because the glass can separate from the frame during hurricane conditions, posing an impact injury hazard. This recall involves SafeHarbor Series 65 and 265 vinyl impact windows that are custom manufactured and installed by contractors to meet building specifications and vary in size and shape. The windows are installed with a removable label with the “SafeHarbor” brand name on it. Recalled windows were sold at ABC Supply, Absolute Installation, Builder’s First Source, Gulf Coast Lumber, Jupiter Industries, Lansing, Lowe’s, and Lumberman’s stores nationwide from March 2016 through September 2016. Consumers should avoid areas with the recalled windows during hurricane conditions and contact Atrium to schedule a free repair. Recall Date: 12/06/2016
  • Menorahs: Target Corp. is recalling menorahs because they can melt when the candles are burning, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves clear acrylic Hanukkah menorahs in a pyramid design that are 10.5 inches long, 1.2 inches wide and 2.3 inches high. Model number 240-14-0169 and bar code can be found on a round white label on the side of the menorah. Recalled menorahs were sold at Target stores nationwide from October 2015 through December 2015. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled menorahs and return them to Target for a full refund. Recall Date: 12/06/2016
  • Playworld Stainless Steel Playground Slides: Playworld Systems Inc. is recalling its Lightning Slide stainless steel playground slide because the weld between the slide bedway and sidewall can crack and separate. A child’s fingers can get caught in the space, posing an amputation hazard. The recalled slides are made of stainless steel and have both single and double bedways. There are welds on both sides of the slide attaching the bedway to the sidewalls, and the welds run continuously from the top to the bottom. There are no identifying marks on the slides. Recalled slides were sold at Independent distributors to parks, schools and municipalities from November 2000 through October 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled slides and contact Playworld for a free replacement slide and free installation. A temporary barrier will be shipped to consumers prior to shipment of a replacement slide to prevent children from using the slide. Playworld is contacting consumers who purchased the slides directly. Recall Date: 12/07/2016
  • Curry Powder: Oriental Packing Co., Inc. is recalling ORIENTAL Hot Curry Powder 50 lb. Bulk, OCHO-RIOS Jamaican Nice Mild and Spicy Hot Curry Powder 4oz, and OCHO-RIOS Mild Curry Powder 5 lb, due to the presence of lead. While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not set a specific limit on lead in spices, there is a limit of 0.1 ppm in candy. The environmental Protections Agency (EPA) has stated that lead levels of 0.015 ppm in drinking water require treatment. Lead can accumulate in the body over time, and can cause serious and sometimes permanent adverse health consequences. Product was distributed in Jamaica and Florida. The product was sold through retail stores. The products can be identified by the label bearing the above names in plastic bottles and paper bags. The sizes are 4oz, 5 lb. and 50 lb. bulk. Product can be identified by the lot numbers and best before dates listed below. This information can be found on the top of the cap and on the bag. BEST BEFORE: 9/19/19 through 9/21/19

  • VIVID Red Wine Crush Gift Boxes: Shurman Retail Group is recalling its VIVID Red Wine Crush Gift Boxes because mold can be present on the boxes, posing a risk of respiratory or other infections in individuals with compromised immune systems, damaged lungs or an allergy to mold. This recall involves decorative gift boxes constructed with metallic decorative paper coverings. The boxes are red, packaged in a clear cellophane sealed bag and have the phrase “VIVID handmade” printed on the bottom in gold-colored ink. Recalled items include boxes with the following information: SKU# 819668, Item# GBX171M.25/20, Box Medium Cube, Red Wine Crush, UPC 5055739024327, 5 inches x 5 inches x 5 inches; and SKU# 819669, GBX171S.25/20, Box Small Cube, Red Wine Crush, UPC 5055739024334, 4 inches x 4 inches x 4 inches. Recalled boxes were sold at PAPYRUS, Paper Destiny and Carlton Cards Stores in October 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled paper boxes and return them to PAPYRUS, Paper Destiny or Carlton Cards Stores for a full refund or contact Schurman Retail Group for instructions on how to return the product.   • Gas Smokers: Masterbuilt Manufacturing, LLC is recalling its Masterbuilt and Cabela’s 7-in-1 gas smokers because the smoker’s gas hose can disconnect posing a fire hazard. The recalled Masterbuilt 7-in-1 smoker comes in green or stainless steel with a Cabela’s logo, or black with Masterbuilt logo.  The three-piece cylindrical body design consists of a lid, center body, and base which sits on the LP gas burner stand.  It also has a porcelain flame disk bowl, water bowl, cooking grates, 10- quart pot and basket, thermometer, burner, a PVC hose and weighs about 32 pounds. Recalled gas smokers were sold at Army, Air Force Exchange, Cabela’s, Gander Mountain and other stores nationwide and online at www.Amazon.com  from April 2011 to October 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled smoker and contact Masterbuilt for a free replacement rubber LP gas hose. Recall Date: 12/08/2016
  • Yankee Candle Luminous Candles: The Yankee Candle Company Inc. is recalling its Luminous Candle Collection because when one of the candles is lit, the glass jar can crack, posing a laceration hazard. This recall involves Yankee Candle’s Luminous Collection fragrance candles. The square glass candles contain a fragrant wax with three wicks. The item number is printed on the bottom of glass candle jar. The recalled candles are approximately 4 inches wide by 5 inches high. Recalled candles include item numbers and luminous collection fragrances: #1535651 – Sea Salt & Coral, #1535890 – Blackberry & Sage, #1535891 – Apple Blossom & Mellon, #1535892 – Sugarcane & Honey, #1535893 – Pine & Sandalwood, and #1535894 – Cinnamon & Cedar. Recalled candles were sold exclusively at Yankee Candle stores nationwide and online at www.yankeecandle.com from September 2016 through November 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles and contact Yankee Candle to receive a full refund. Recall Date: 12/08/2016
