Product Recalls for the Week of January 9, 2017:

  • Cappuccino Snack Mix: As a result of an ingredient supplier recall, Dutch Valley is issuing a recall on Cappuccino Snack Mix due to the potential for it to be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Dutch Valley Food Distributors, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall for the following product: Item # 552372 Cappuccino Snack Mix, Lot Code: 20161027, Best By: 5/25/17. Product is distributed in ten-pound bulk cases, which consist of two-five pound bags in a case. The inner bags are clear and unlabeled. All Items packaged and sold within the parameters mentioned are subject to this recall, including items sold on our website, www.dutchvalleyfoods.com. These items were distributed nationwide and affect the following states: DE, FL,GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NJ, NY, OH, PA, VA, WI, WV.  Retailers are advised to remove this product from store shelves based on the Best By Date. Consumers who have purchased these products are asked to destroy them or to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Recall Date: 01/04/2017
  • Bakers of Paris Croissants: Bakers of Paris is recalling plain, almond, and chocolate croissants sold in 18 Northern California Whole Foods Market stores due to an undeclared allergen. The croissants, sold individually in self-service cases and in clear plastic packs of four, are made with an egg wash which is not declared on the ingredient list. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product. Products were labeled as follows and carried the following UPCs: Croissant 4 Pack Baker Paris, 24159300000; Chocolate Croissant 4 Pack Baker Paris, 24159500000; Almond Croissant 4 Pack Baker Paris, 24159400000; Croissant Assorted 4 Pack Baker Paris, 24159800000; Chocolate Croissant, 46000058528; Croissant, 46000058529; and
    Almont Croissant, 46000058559. The recalled products have “packed on” dates of 1/4/17 or earlier and “sell by” dates of 1/7/17 or earlier. The products were distributed only to 18 Whole Foods Market stores in Northern California. A full list of affected stores can be found here. Customers who have purchased this product at a listed Whole Foods Market store should discard it and may bring in their receipt for a full refund. Recall Date: 01/05/2017
  • Canned Cat Food (Expanded Recall): The J.M. Smucker Company is expanding the limited voluntary recall on certain lots of 9LivesTM, EverPetTM, and Special KittyTM canned cat food due to possible low levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1). The affected product was distributed to a limited number of retail customers from December 20 through January 3, 2017. A list of additional impacted products and codes (updated January 6, 2017) can be found here. Consumers who have cans of cat food from the impacted lots should stop feeding it to their cats and contact the J.M. Smucker Company. The original recall can be found here. Recall Date: 01/06/2017
  • Everroast Chicken Caesar Wrap: Harris Teeter, LLC is issuing a voluntary recall of Everroast Chicken Caesar Wrap because it may contain undeclared anchovy. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The recall applies to Everroast Chicken Caesar Wrap (UPC: 72036-95828) that was prepared in the deli department of various Harris Teeter supermarkets in multiple states. All code dates. If you purchased this item, and have an allergy or sensitivity to anchovies, please do not consume the product. Instead, return it to any Harris Teeter store for a full refund.   • White Peppermint Hostess Twinkies: Hostess Brands, LLC is voluntarily recalling its Holiday White Peppermint Hostess® Twinkies® because of a recall by Blommer Chocolate Company of the confectionary coating used on the Holiday White Peppermint Hostess Twinkies product. The confectionary coating contains milk powder ingredients recalled by Valley Milk Products, LLC due to a concern of Salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date, and none of the confectionary coating sampled has tested positive for Salmonella. However, Hostess is initiating this voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution. This recall applies only to the White Peppermint Hostess Twinkies (UPC 888109111571), which were only sold in multipack boxes (9 individually wrapped cakes in a box, as pictured below). This recall does not affect any other Hostess products. The products were sold to mass merchandisers, grocery stores, distributors, dollar and discount stores, and convenience stores throughout the United States. Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged to discontinue consumption and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Recall Date: 01/09/2017
  • Palmer Candy Products: Palmer Candy Company has announced a limited recall of certain chocolate products after being informed by a supplier that a milk powder ingredient used in a compound chocolate coating that they supply to Palmer Candy Company has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The voluntary recall, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) includes selected products produced between October 20, 2016 and December 9, 2016 and shipped by Palmer Candy Company to grocery, convenience store and wholesale customers nationwide. A full list of recalled products, UPC #’s, and Expiration Ranges can be found here. The recall is the result of a potentially contaminated milk powder ingredient recalled by Valley Milk Products, a derivative of which was included as a small portion of the ingredients by another company in a confectionary coating supplied to Palmer Candy Company. Affected products include a variety of candy products sold to retailers under the Palmer Candy Company brand, private label chocolates for retail distribution and bulk products provided to retailers for repackaging. Although testing has shown no pathogenic bacteria in the milk confectionary coatings, the company decided out of an abundance of caution to recall all products produced using any amount of the now recalled ingredients. Consumers should throw out or return these products to the point of sale for a full refund. Recall Date: 01/09/2017
  • Chicken Tender Products: Schreiber Processing Corp. is recalling approximately 2,330 pounds of chicken tender products that may be contaminated with plastic and misbranded, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The breaded chicken breast tenders were produced on December 8, 2016 and packaged on December 9, 2016. Products subject to recall include 10-pound boxes containing “Meal Mart BATTERED & BREADED CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS” bearing item code 03-CTB and production code 0246. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-787” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to institutional and retail locations in New Jersey, New York, and Washington. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 01/09/2017
  • Organic Veggies Snacking Tray: Mann Packing is voluntarily recalling 205 cases of 18 ounce Organic Veggies with Organic Ranch Dip in a snacking tray because the product may contain mislabeled ingredients that could pose an allergen risk; specifically egg, milk, soy and mustard. The product has a best if used by date of January 14 and an incorrect UPC barcode: 71651901471 (the correct UPC is 716519014765). No illnesses have been reported in association with the recall to date. No other Mann Packing products are affected by the recall. Mann Packing is taking the extra precautionary measure of issuing this recall so that consumers who may have purchased the product are properly made aware. The product was shipped to the following states: Florida, Minnesota, New York, Iowa and Texas. Consumers who have the recalled product in their possession and are allergic to egg, milk, soy and/or mustard, should not consume the item. Mann Packing representatives are contacting retail customers who received the item and asking they remove the product from the store shelves and inventories and that no products are made available for consumer purchase.   • Dark Chocolate Crunch Bar: Chip’n Dipped is recalling its 2.9-oz. bar, Dark Chocolate Crunch because they may contain undeclared milk. People who have allergies to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. The recalled “Dark Chocolate Crunch” was distributed nationwide in retail stores. The product comes in 2.9oz Bar form. The lot numbers are 1100506, 1100483 and 1100524 and are stamped on the back of the packaging box. Individual bars are unmarked. Production of the product has been suspended until FDA and the company is certain that the problem has been corrected. Consumers who have purchased The Dark Chocolate Crunch Bar are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Recall Date: 01/10/2017
  • Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast Product: Perfect Fit Meals, LLC is recalling approximately 3,546 pounds of chicken breast product due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The product may contain milk and wheat, known allergens which are not declared on the product label. The ready-to-eat chicken breast items were produced on December 20 and 21, 2016. Products subject to recall include 10.5 ounce sealed tray package containing “From the Kitchen of Cooking Light Magazine: Lemon Pepper Chicken” with “Use or Freeze By” date of 01/21/17 and lot code 2457744.2. The product subject to recall bears establishment number “P-827” inside the USDA mark of inspection. This item was shipped to military commissaries and retail establishments nationwide. The problem was discovered when a distributor notified the establishment that the chicken breast product had been incorrectly labeled. Although the product is labeled “Lemon Pepper Chicken” it contains a different product, “Blackened Chicken Breast”, which contains milk and wheat allergens. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 01/10/2017
  • Rock Salt Lamps: Michaels is recalling its Rock Salt Lamps because the dimmer switch and/or outlet plug can overheat and ignite, posing shock and fire hazards. This recall involves three rock salt lamps sold under the Lumière brand. The lamps are pink in color and are mounted on a wooden base or in a black metal basket. The lamps were sold in black cardboard boxes with a photo of the lamp on the front of the box and the UPC bar code on the bottom of the box. Recalled lamps include: Rock of Gibraltar Lamp, SKU 495144, UPC 00886946056253; Carnival of Lights, SKU 495433, UPC 00886946058325; and Basket of Rocks, SKU 495146, UPC 00886946056277. Recalled lamps were sold at Michaels stores from July 2016 through November 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the lamps and return them to any Michaels store for a full refund.   • Active Kyds Children’s Toy Shovels and Garden Tool Sets: Active Kyds LLC is recalling its kids toy shovels and garden tool sets because excessive lead paint levels on the yellow shank and black blade on the shovel, and the black paint on the garden tool set violates the federal lead paint standard. In addition, the black plastic shovel handle and bag clip on the garden tool drawstring bag contain excessive lead content levels, a violation of the federal lead standard. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effect. This recall involves Active Kyds children’s toy shovels and garden tool sets. The fiberglass toy shovels were sold in yellow and black. The children’s garden tool set has blue handles with orange caps and black painted steel ends. It includes four tools: a hand shovel, hand fork, transplanter and cultivator. The tools are sold with a pull string black mesh bag with the Active Kyds logo printed in white. Recalled shovels and tool sets were sold exclusively at amazon.com from August 2016 through October 2016. Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy shovels and garden tool sets away from children and contact Active Kyds for a refund. Recall Date: 01/10/2017
  • Dunkin’ Donuts Glass Tumblers: Dunkin’ Brands, Inc. is recalling its Dunkin’ Donuts Glass Tumblers because the glass tumblers can crack or break, posing laceration and burn hazards. This recall involves 16 ounce glass tumblers for hot and cold beverages, sold in three styles. They are approximately 8 inches tall and approximately 3 inches in diameter. The first style has “BUT FIRST, DUNKIN” written in white font on the inside layer of glass, a clear lid and pink plastic where the lid connects with the base of the tumbler. The second style has “BUT FIRST, DUNKIN” written in white font on the inside layer of glass, a clear lid, and orange plastic where the lid connects with the base of the tumbler. The third style has a black and gray plaid pattern on the inside layer of glass, a black silicone grip with the letters “DD” embossed on it, and a black lid. Recalled tumblers were sold at Dunkin’ Donuts stores from September 2016 through November 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled glass tumblers and return them to the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant where purchased for a full refund. Recall Date: 01/10/2017
  • Bad Boy Off-Road Utility Vehicles: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Textron Specialized Vehicles, Inc. are announcing the recall of about 1,100 Bad Boy off-road utility vehicles. As a result of the vehicles rolling over, a 14-year-old male passenger died in Toombs County, Georgia in 2014 and, in a separate rollover incident, an adult male operator suffered a serious leg injury. The vehicles lack seat belts, posing a risk of serious injury or death to the operator and passengers in the event of a vehicle accident. This recall involves Bad Boy XTO and Bone Collector XTO model off-road utility vehicles manufactured by Textron Specialized Vehicles. The recalled four-wheeled vehicles are battery-powered and have a bench seat for a driver and one passenger and a two-passenger, rear-facing bench seat on the back. The vehicles were sold in camouflage, black, white, forest green, flame red, and patriot blue and the brand and model name are printed on the side and front panels. The recalled vehicles have serial numbers ranging from 8000020 through 8004934. The serial number is located on the steering column connected to the wheel. The recalled utility vehicles were sold at Bad Boy dealers nationwide from November 2010 through June 2013 and manufactured in the United States. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact Textron Specialized Vehicles or an authorized dealer for a free installation of seat belts. Textron Specialized Vehicles is contacting all known purchasers directly. Recall Date: 01/11/2017
  • Southwest Chipotle Seasoning: Tupperware U.S., Inc. is voluntarily recalling limited quantities of Southwest Chipotle Seasoning, because it has the potential to be contaminated with SalmonellaThe product was manufactured for Tupperware by a third party blender of fine spices and seasonings. This recall is being carried out in an abundance of caution after the FDA found traces of Salmonella at the facility where buttermilk powder, one ingredient in the seasoning mix, was manufactured. A limited number of Seasoning packets were distributed nationwide to consumers.  The only impacted packages of Seasoning show LOT #16189305 on the back of the package, above the Best By date. Please see label below to help with identifying the product. To Tupperware’s knowledge, no Salmonella has been found in the buttermilk powder shipped to its seasoning manufacturer by the ingredient supplier, and Tupperware has not received any information from the manufacturer indicating that Salmonella has been found in the Southwest Chipotle Seasoning itself. Tupperware has not experienced any problems or complaints about this product, and no illnesses have been reported.  This recall is a precautionary measure only.  Anyone in possession of any of the recalled product should send it to: Tupperware U.S., Inc.; ATTN: Julie Castro; 14901 South Orange Blossom Trail; Orlando, FL 32837. The returning party should include a name, address, phone number and email address. Once the product is received, Tupperware will send, in return, a $15 eGift Certificate, per Seasoning package, to cover the cost of the product and shipping. Recall Date: 01/11/2017
  • Arctic Cat Snowmobiles: Arctic Cat Inc. is recalling its Snowmobiles because the fuel tank can crack and fuel can leak into the engine compartment, posing a fire hazard. The recall involves model year 2007, 2008, and 2009 Arctic Cat snowmobiles, including F models, Jaguar and Jaguar Z1 1100 models, Bearcat Z1 XT models, T500 and T570 models, TZ1 and TZ1 Turbo models, and Z1 1100 and Z1 1100 Turbo models. These snowmobiles were produced in a variety of color combinations. “Arctic Cat” is printed on the sides of the vehicle and on the back snow-flap area. The model name is on the side of the vehicle. The model number is printed in the owner’s manual. Recalled snowmobiles were sold at Arctic Cat dealerships nationwide from June 2006 through December 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact an Arctic Cat snowmobile dealer to schedule a free repair. Registered owners have been directly notified about this recall by mail. Recall Date: 01/11/2017
  • Linon Home Décor Dressers: Linon Home Décor Products Inc. is recalling its Cynthia dressers because the chests are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall, posing a serious tip-over and entrapment hazard that can result in death or injuries to children. This recall involves Cynthia style 5-drawer dressers. The dressers measure 40.25-inches tall by 17-inches wide by 13.5-inches deep, and were sold in a cream color. Recalled dressers were sold exclusively at Wayfair.com from September 2015 to August 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using any recalled chest that is not properly anchored to the wall and place it into an area that children cannot access. Consumers should contact Linon Home for a full refund or tip-restraint kit. Consumers who are unable or unwilling to install the tip-restraint kit should contact Linon for instructions or additional assistance. The firm is contacting all known purchasers directly.   • Side-by-Side Off-Road Vehicles: BRP U.S. Inc. is recalling its side-by-side off-road vehicles because the vehicles can unexpectedly roll away when in the “park” or “P” position, posing an injury hazard to users. This recall involves model year 2016 Can-Am Defender, Defender DPS, and Defender XT model side-by-side off-road vehicles. The vehicles were sold in various colors and have four tires, two seats and a cargo box on the back. “Can-am” is printed on the side of the cargo box and the model name is printed on the side of the front of the vehicle beside the headlight. The model name and vehicle identification number (VIN) are printed on a label under the glove box. Contact BRP or a BRP dealer to verify VINs included in the recall. Recalled vehicles were sold at Can-Am dealers nationwide from October 2015 through December 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact a BRP dealer to schedule a free repair. BRP is contacting all known purchasers directly. Recall Date: 01/12/2017
  • Yamaha Snowmobiles: Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A. is recalling its snowmobiles with aftermarket turbochargers because the turbocharger overboost can cause severe engine damage, posing crash and fire hazards to the user. This recall involves Yamaha model year 2016 SR10 “SRViper” snowmobiles that are equipped with a dealer-installed Mountain Performance Inc. (MPI) Turbo Kit sold by Yamaha. The recalled snowmobiles were sold in several colors. The model name is printed on the left and right side of the front cowling. The vehicle identification number (VIN) and the model number are stamped on the frame (tunnel) near the right foot-well. The letter G in the 10th position of the VIN number indicates that the unit was made in the 2016 model year. A complete list of recalled models, model numbers and colors can be found here. Recalled snowmobiles were sold at Yamaha snowmobile dealers nationwide from August 2015 through April 2016, and the Mountain Performance Inc. (MPI) Turbo Kits were sold as an after-market accessory at Yamaha snowmobile dealers nationwide from March 2015 through September 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact a local Yamaha dealer to schedule a free repair. Yamaha is contacting all registered owners directly.   • Nantucket Pre-Lit Globe Light Christmas Trees: Nantucket Distributing Co. LLC is recalling its Pre-Lit Globe Light Christmas trees because the fuse on the product can overheat and blow, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves pre-lit artificial Christmas trees. The artificial Colorado Spruce trees are green and measure about 6 ½ feet tall. The trees contain five multi-colored incandescent and globe light strands. The SKU/UPC is 31738736. The SKU/UPC is located on the price tag affixed to the product packaging. Recalled Christmas trees were sold at Christmas Tree Shops, Christmas Tree Shops andThat!, and andThat! stores from October 2016 through November 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the pre-lit Christmas trees. The firm has contacted all known purchasers of the recalled product and all trees sold to consumers have been returned for a full refund. Recall Date: 01/12/2017
  • Boosted Electric-Powered Skateboards: Boosted Inc. is recalling its electric-powered skateboards because the lithium ion battery pack can overheat and smoke, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves 2nd Generation Boosted Dual+ electric skateboards with lithium ion battery packs. “Boosted” is printed on the wooden skateboards. Serial numbers that start with S2634 through S2644 are located on a white sticker on the bottom of the boards. The battery packs were sold as original equipment with the skateboards and are attached to the bottom of the board in a black thermoplastic enclosure.  Model number B2SR and “Boosted Lithium” are printed on the battery pack.  The battery packs have an orange power button. Recalled skateboards were sold online at boostedboards.com from September 2016 through November 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled skateboards and contact Boosted for a free replacement battery pack. Recall Date: 01/12/2017
  • Chicken Soup Product: Kettle Cuisine, LLC is recalling approximately 3,096 pounds of chicken soup product due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The label declares the product to be chicken soup, when it is actually an Italian wedding soup with meatballs. The product also contains eggs, milk, and wheat, known allergens which are not declared on the product label. The chicken soup items were produced and packaged on January 3, 2017. Products subject to recall include 24-ounce cups containing “MOM’S CHICKEN SOUP” with a “USE BY” date of 02/17/17. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-18468” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to Whole Foods Market locations in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. The problem was discovered when a retail store noted that product labeled as “Mom’s Chicken Soup” actually contained “Italian Wedding Soup with Meatballs.” Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 01/12/2017
