Product Recalls for the Week of June 5, 2017:

  • Half & Half: Naturally Wholesome Products LLC is voluntarily recalling gallon and pint containers of Half & Half labeled under the brand name Wholesome Country Creamery due to the presence of Alkaline Phosphatase found in samples during routine testing. All gallon and pint containers involved in this recall have a batch code of 4052917 or 2060517. Distribution of the affected product was limited in scope. No other Naturally Wholesome Products LLC products are affected by this recall. The recall involves 244 units of the affected product which was distributed only in North Carolina. The company is actively notifying customers and is in the process of retrieving the affected product. Consumers who have this product should not consume it. They should discard it and may return the product container to the place of purchase for a full refund or exchange. Recall Date: 5/24/2017
  • Double Stuffed Pepperoni Roll: P&S Bakery, Inc. is recalling approximately 2,959 pounds of pepperoni product that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically clear meat casing utilized in food production, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The frozen, ready-to-eat, beef and pork pepperoni roll item was produced on March 29, 2017. Products subject to recall include 5.25-ounce clear plastic wrapped packages containing 1 piece of Gia Russa brand “DOUBLE STUFFED Pepperoni Roll PEPPERONI & MOZZARELLA,” with lot/case code 17088. The product subject to recall bears establishment number “EST. 27274” inside the USDA mark of inspection. This item was shipped to distributors and retail locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume it. This product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 6/2/2017
  • Cranberry Orange Bread: Fry’s Food Stores has recalled Bakehouse Bread Cranberry Orange Bread sold in its retail stores because it contains undeclared pecans and tree nuts.  People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to pecans or tree nuts run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.  Although pecans are listed in the ingredient statement, pecans or tree nuts are not included in the “Contains” statement. Products subject to recall include 16 oz. Bakehouse Bread Cranberry Orange Bread, UPC 864934 00004 lbs, Sell By: June 07 2017 and Before. This recall includes all Fry’s Food Stores operating across Arizona. Customers who have purchased any of the products described above and have sensitivity to pecans or tree nuts, should not consume them and should return them to a store for a full refund or replacement.   • Ground Beef and Beef Primal Cut Products: Creation Gardens, Inc. is recalling approximately 22,832 pounds of raw ground beef and beef primal cut products that may be contaminated with coliO157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The raw ground beef and beef primal cut products items were produced on May 31, June 1 and June 2, 2017. A complete list of recalled products can be found on the FSIS recall website. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 7914” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to food service locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 6/5/2017
  • Onion Soup Mix: Gilster-Mary Lee is voluntarily recalling one lot of Western Family Onion Soup Mix, UPC 15400-03604 because it may contain undeclared egg. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The only lot involved is Western Family Onion Soup Mix, packaged in 4.5-oz. cartons which have a Best By date of APR 10 18 D16 (UPC# 15400-03604). Consumers should return the product to the store for a full refund or discard it. The product is distributed exclusively to Associated Foods Warehouse, 1850 West 2530 North, Farr West, UT 84404.   • Children’s Playwear: Lila + Hayes LLC is recalling Eloise and Benton Bubble children’s playwear because the buttons can detach from the garment, posing a choking hazard to young children. The recall includes Benton and Eloise pima cotton, sleeveless, bubble playwear. The Benton style was sold in navy, white, light blue and blue and green ticking stripes. The Eloise style was sold in navy, white, pink and blue and green floral. The garment has a snap closure at the bottom and crisscross straps that button over the shoulders on the front of the garment. The Benton style was sold in boys sizes NB, 0-24 months, 2T and 3T. The Eloise was sold in girls sizes NB, 0-24 months, 2T and 3T. The manufacture dates codes for December 2016 (DEC16) and February 2016 (FEB16) are printed on the inside garment tag located inside the seam. “Lila + Hayes” and the garment size are printed on the inside of the back of the garment. Recalled garments were sold at Layette (Dallas, Texas), Hip Hip Hip Hooray (Dallas, Texas) and Born Children’s (Montgomery, Alabama) stores and on-line at www.lilaandhayes.com from February 2017 through April 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using the playwear and contact Lila + Hayes to receive a pre-paid mailer envelope to return the garment for a full refund. Recall Date: 6/6/2017
  • Southern Grove Cashew Halves and Pieces with Sea Salt: Star Snacks Co. is voluntarily recalling two lots of Southern Grove Cashew Halves and Pieces with Sea Salt due to the potential presence of glass pieces. The affected product was distributed in 8.0oz canisters under the following label: Southern Grove Cashew Halves and Pieces with Sea Salt, Net Weight 8.0 oz. (227 grams), UPC code 041498179366, Code: Best by date 11/27/18 & 11/28/18 (printed on the bottom of the can). The product was distributed to ALDI stores in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington DC., Wisconsin and West Virginia. Consumers who have purchased the product in question are urged not to consume this product and may return the product to their local ALDI store for a refund or dispose of the item. Recall Date: 6/6/2017
  • Arctic Snowmobiles: Arctic Cat Inc. is recalling its snowmobiles because the drive clutch can fracture and fragments can escape the snowmobile shielding, posing an impact hazard. This recall involves all model year 2017 Arctic Cat 9000 Turbo snowmobiles and model year 2018 Arctic Cat 6000, 7000, 8000, and 9000 snowmobiles. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is stamped on the right side of the snowmobile tunnel near the right foot rest. The last six digits of the VIN are needed to identify recalled snowmobiles. The recalled snowmobiles were produced in a variety of color combinations. “Arctic Cat” is printed on the sides of the vehicle and on the back snow-flap area. Recalled models include all 2017 Arctic Cat 9000 Turbo snowmobiles and 2018 Arctic Cat 6000, 7000, 8000, and 9000 snowmobiles with VIN numbers between 100001 through 102133 or 808003 through 808241. Recalled snowmobiles were sold at Arctic Cat dealerships nationwide from June 2016 through May 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact an Arctic Cat snowmobile dealer to schedule a free repair. Registered owners have been directly notified about this recall by mail. Recall Date: 6/6/2017
  • Queso Fresco/Whole Milk Cheese: Global Garlic Inc. is recalling its 16oz packages of “Queso Fresco/ Whole Milk” and (“Queso Fresco x LB(Barra)/Whole Milk Cheese” because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, and organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. The recalled “Queso Fresco 16oz / Whole Milk” and (“Queso Fresco x LB (Barra)/Whole Milk Cheese” were distributed in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana and North Carolina. The 16oz cheese comes in a clear plastic package marked with a UPC No. 8-96211-00235-9 and an expiration date of September 19, 2017 stamped on the side. The pound (barra) cheese weighted around 5-6 Lb., with a clear plastic package, it has no UPC number and expiration date of June 17, 2017. Consumers who have purchased 16oz packages of “Queso Fresco/ Whole Milk” and (“Queso Fresco x LB (Barra)/Whole Milk Cheese” are urged to return them to the place of purchase for full refund.   • Ceiling Light Fixtures: Lithonia Lighting, a division of Acuity Brands Lighting Inc., is recalling LED light fixtures because the plastic diffuser lens can detach and fall unexpectedly, posing a risk of injury from impact. This recall involves Lithonia Lighting LBL4W model ceiling light fixtures which are used indoors in commercial applications such as offices, schools, closets, hallways and stairwells. The fixtures are painted white metal and measure about four feet long with a low profile, curved plastic diffuser lens (cover).  The plastic diffuser lens measures 4 feet long by 15 inches wide.  Only fixtures manufactured between February 2016 and March 2017 are included in this recall. Lithonia Lighting, the model number and the date of manufacture are printed on a label attached to the fixture’s housing. The date code is in the MM/DD/YY format on the fixture’s housing. Recalled products were sold at Electrical distributors nationwide and online through the commercial desk at 1000Bulbs.com, Amazon.com, ATGStores.com, Build.com, HD.com, ShineRetrofits.com, and Wayfair.com from February 2016 through March 2017. Consumers should remove the lens and contact Lithonia Lighting to receive a free lens to repair the unit. Consumers should prevent people from going into the immediate area under the fixtures until the lenses are repaired.   • Swimming Pool Motors: Nidec Motor Corp. is recalling its swimming pool motors because the pump control cover can be improperly grounded, posing an electrical shock hazard. This recall involves variable speed swimming pool motors with a programmable user interface on the top. “Emerson” or “EcoTech EZ” is printed on top of the control box and the model number is printed on the rating plate located on the side of the pump. Recalled model numbers include M63PWBLE-0121, M63PWBLM-0128, M63PWBLR-0131, M63PWBLS-0132, M63PWBLV-0135, M63PWBLW-0136, M63XZBMA-0139, M63PWBMB-0140, M63PWBMC-0141, M63PWBMD-0142, M63PWBME-0143, M63PWBMF-0144, M63PWBMG-0145, and M63PWBSC-0229. Recalled units were sold at Leslie’s Pool Supply and other retail stores, wholesale pool suppliers including Pool Builders Supply, Pool Corp., Pool & Electrical Products, and United Aqua Group from September 2010 through October 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled swimming pool motors and contact Nidec Motor Corp. (NMC) to schedule a free repair by a qualified technician to install an external ground lead.   • Safety Gates: Madison Mill Inc. is recalling its foldaway expandable safety gates because a young child’s neck can fit into the “V” shaped opening along the top edge of the gate, posing entrapment and strangulation hazards to young children. Also, young children can pass under the gate allowing access to restricted areas, such as stairs. This recall involves Madison Mill 23 and 25 foldaway expandable safety gates.  Item number 23 extends to three feet and item number 25 extends to five feet. The expandable gates are made of hardwood and are used to secure children or small pets in certain areas of the home. The model and item number can be found on the original packaging. Recalled gates were sold at Do It Best stores and other independent hardware stores nationwide from January 2013 through May 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled gates and contact Madison Mill for instructions on receiving a full refund. Recall Date: 6/7/2017
  • Frozen Tuna: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are assisting state and local officials in assessing the risk of hepatitis A virus exposure from contaminated frozen tuna sourced from Sustainable Seafood Company, Vietnam, and Santa Cruz Seafood Inc., Philippines. If unvaccinated consumers have consumed the recalled product within the last two weeks, post-exposure prophylaxis may help prevent hepatitis A virus infection. Prior to FDA’s announcement, Hilo Fish Company alerted its customers and distribution partners directly to let them know about the company’s voluntary recall of certain tuna products on May 18. The FDA received records from the company or its distribution partners indicating that they sold frozen tuna to the establishments listed on the FDA’s website. The FDA is working with Hilo and other distributors to ensure that the companies remove product from the market. The table containing the names of establishments have been updated. It is the responsibility of the Hilo Fish Company to notify its customers about the voluntary recall. It is also the responsibility of any company that received a recall notice from Hilo Fish Company to notify its customers. The establishments identified on the FDA’s website should have received a notice from Hilo Fish Company or their direct supplier. If they have not, they should reach out to their suppliers for more information. Any company that has questions about the voluntary recall or has affected product and did not receive notice should contact the FDA. Recall Date: 6/8/2017
  • GT Mountain Bikes: Cycling Sports Group Inc. is recalling GT mountain bicycles because the handlebars can crack, posing a fall hazard to the consumer. This recall involves 2017 GT mountain bicycle models: Karakoram Sport, Karakoram Comp, Aggressor Sport, Aggressor Comp and Aggressor Expert. The bikes were sold in a variety of colors including, black, blue, gunmetal grey and neon yellow. Only models with 1) a solid black GT logo on the downtube and 2) a stem marked “Ø31.8   9-10N.m” are included in the recall. Recalled bikes were sold at Bicycle stores nationwide from June 2016 to August 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact an authorized GT dealer or Cycling Sports Group to schedule a free repair of the handlebar and stem. Recall Date: 6/8/2017
  • Soybean Sprouts: Happy Sprout Inc. is voluntarily recalling all packages of soybean sprouts because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections to individuals with weakened immune systems. The following products are being recalled by the firm: 1-pound bags of soybean sprouts in clear plastic bags labeled “GOODSEED Soy Bean Sprouts” “Keep Refrigerated” with a UPC Code of “21111 10035” produced on or after May 1, 2017; 2-pound bags of soybean sprouts in clear plastic bags labeled “GOODSEED Soy Bean Sprouts” “Keep Refrigerated” with a UPC Code of “21112 58772” produced on or after May 1, 2017; and 10-pound bags of soybean sprouts in black plastic bags labeled with a sticker “GOODSEED Soy Bean Sprouts” produced on or after May 1, 2017. These items were distributed to retail stores in Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey. Individuals who purchased GOODSEED brand soy bean sprouts distributed by Happy Sprout Inc. should return the product to the place of sale for a full refund. Recall Date: 6/8/2017
  • Beef Products: Maid-Rite Specialty Foods, LLC. is recalling approximately 174,000 pounds of various beef products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The products contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the products labels. The raw and ready-to-eat beef items were produced between March 13, 2017 and May 26, 2017. A full list of recalled products can be found on the FSIS recall website. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 77” or “EST. 118” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to institutional locations throughout the United States and Canada. The problem was discovered on June 6, 2017, when Maid-Rite Specialty Foods, LLC. received notification from one of their ingredient supplier that the bread crumbs the company received and used in the recalled products potentially contained undeclared milk. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 6/8/2017
  • Chicken Salad Products: Aldon Food Corporation is recalling approximately 18,570 pounds of chicken salad due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The products contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. The chicken salad products were produced from January 1, 2017 through May 31, 2017. A full list of recalled products can be found on the FSIS recall website. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-8429” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distributors in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia and Pennsylvania.   • Ready-to-Eat Breaded Chicken Products: Water Lilies Food Inc. is recalling approximately 4,335 pounds of ready-to-eat breaded chicken products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The products could contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. The Ahold Wedge spicy chicken tenders were produced on various dates from March 24, 27, and 28, 2017. Products subject to recall include 10-ounce boxes of frozen “AHOLD WEDGE Spicy chicken strips fully cooked chicken breast tenders fritter with spicy seasoning.” The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-21465A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia. The problem was discovered on June 6, 2017, when the company received notification from an ingredient supplier that the bread crumbs the company received and used in the recalled products potentially contained undeclared milk.
