Product Recalls for the Week of November 14, 2016:
- Chocolate Sun Cups: Free2b Foods is recalling its chocolate Sun Cups for three specific Sell By dates, because it may contain undeclared milk ingredients. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The recalled chocolate Sun Cups were distributed nationwide in retail stores. UPC codes are printed on the back of packages and Sell By dates are stamped in black on the back of packages. Products in the recall include double sun cups in purple package with UPC Code 895444001405 and sell by dates 08/02/17, 08/04/17 and 08/07/17; and single sun cups in purple package with UPC Code 895444001443 and sell by dates 08/02/17, 08/04/17 and 08/07/17. Consumers who have a milk allergy are encouraged not to consume the products. Recall Date: 11/10/2016
- Cedar Crest Specialties Ice Cream: Cedar Crest Specialties, Inc. is recalling Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Monster Cookie and Pirate’s Bounty ice cream flavors, bearing the following Product Name, Product Code Dates, and container sizes: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Product Code Dates 3826, 3846, 4346 and 4326 in pints, 48 ounces and 3 gallon sizes; Monster Cookie, Product Code Dates 3826 in 3 gallon sizes; and Pirate’s Bounty, Product Code Date 4346 in 48 ounce size containers. Cedar Crest was notified on November 10 that the cookie dough in the above-referenced products, which is manufactured by Aspen Hills, Inc., has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. The affected products were distributed in retail stores throughout the Midwest. Cedar Crest Specialties is taking immediate steps to recall all affected products, as a voluntary, preventative safety measure. Customers who have purchased Cedar Crest Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Monster Cookie and/or Pirate’s Bounty flavors, bearing the affected Product Code dates and container sizes, are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Recall Date: 11/10/2016
- Peanut Butter Landslide Ice Cream: House of Flavors, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited, affected portion of Its Ashby’s Sterling Peanut Butter Landslide Ice Cream. The product was made with peanut butter cookie dough, purchased from Aspen Hills, Inc., which has expanded its recall due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Only Ashby’s Sterling Peanut Butter Landslide Ice Cream packaged in 3-gallon container with item number 7305 and lot number #16195 is affected by the recall. No other Ashby’s Sterling Ice Cream or House of Flavors products are included in this recall. The product was sold to distributors and ice cream shops nationally. Distributors and ice cream shops with product matching this lot number should dispose of the product and contact their distributor for a full refund. Recall Date: 11/11/2016
- Ready-to-Eat Chicken Breast Products: Schnuck Markets Inc. is recalling approximately 62 pounds of ready-to-eat grilled chicken products due to undercooking, resulting in the potential survival of bacterial pathogens in the products, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The Butter Garlic Marinated Grilled Chicken Breast items were produced and packaged on November 8, 2016. Products included in the recall include ready-to-eat grilled chicken containing the label of “Butter Garlic Marinated Grilled Chicken Breast” with a sell date of November 13, 2016. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 13562” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to 26 Schnuck retail locations in Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. Customers purchased the affected product from the Deli or Chef’s Express service case and would contain a purchase date of November 9 or 10 on the label. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
- Hammerhead Off-Road Fun-Karts: Hammerhead Off-Road is recalling its fun-karts because the fuel tank can crack and cause the fuel to leak out, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves model year 2009 through 2015 Hammerhead Off-Road GL 150, GTS 150 and GTS Platinum fun-karts. The recalled fun-karts have two seats and a rear cargo rack and were sold in red, black, white, orange, blue and green. “GTS” is printed on the side cage and the hood of the GTS models and “Hammerhead” is printed on the hood of the GL models. Serial numbers are printed on the cross bar behind the seats. A full list of recalled products can be found here. Recalled fun-karts were sold at Hammerhead Off-Road dealers nationwide from August 2009 through July 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled fun-karts and contact Hammerhead Off-Road to schedule a free replacement of the fuel tank. The firm is contacting all known purchasers directly. - Weight Watchers Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae: Weight Watchers Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae frozen desserts is voluntarily being recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenescontamination from Aspen Hills, Inc. Cookie Dough Pieces. The recall is for approximately 100,000 cases of Weight Watchers Smart OnesChocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae frozen desserts. A full list of recalled products can be found here. Consumers who purchased this product should not eat it. They should return it to the store where purchased for an exchange or full refund. Recall Date: 11/14/2016
- “Kahuku Ogo,” “Robusta Ogo” and “Kahuku Sea Aspargus” Marine Agrifuture, LLC is recalling its “Kahuku Ogo”, “Robusta Ogo” and “Kahuku Sea Asparagus” because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. The recalled “Kahuku Ogo”, “Robusta Ogo”, and “Kahuku Sea Asparagus” were distributed mainly in Hawaii to Seafood and Produce Distributors through direct delivery, but also to some customers in CA, WA, NV, and Tokyo Japan, and retailed at local Farmers Markets in Hawaii. The Ogo products come in a plastic bag of various weights from 0.5 LB to 35 LB, which were sold from November 2, 2016 and prior, and the Sea Asparagus in 4 Ounce, 1 LB clear plastic clamshell or in a 5 LB of plastic bag marked with a tracking number stamped on the lids or bags, which were sold from November 8, 2016 and prior. The corresponding UPC number for 4 OZ, 1 LB, and 5 LB of sea asparagus are 897680001010, 897680001027, and 897680001041 respectively. Seafood and Produce companies that have purchased Kahuku Ogo, Robusta Ogo, and Kahuku Sea Asparagus described above are urged to stop using or selling or further distributing these products, to disposal of the products, and to have them let us know the amount that was destroyed for credit and reconciliation for your recall. Consumers who have purchased 1 LB or 0.5 LB package of Kahuku Ogo, Robusta Ogo, and 4 OZ package of Kahuku Sea Asparagus at Farmers Markets are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. - ATV and UTV Clutches: Gates Corp. is recalling its ATV and UTV clutches because the clutch can break during operation of the vehicle and cause fragmentation and forcefully eject parts, posing laceration or impact injury hazards to the operator. This recall involves two models of the G-Force CVT clutches that are aftermarket metallic, cylinder-shaped replacement clutch assemblies for use in all-terrain-vehicles and utility task vehicles. The part number, “G-FORCE” and the Gates logo are printed on the round top of the clutch. The UPC, part number and internal product number are printed on the packaging. Products listed in the recall include: CVTPRM001, UPC 770075699415, Internal Product No. 76920001 and CVTPRM002, UPC 770075701316, 76920005. Recalled clutches were sold at 3P Off Road of Tomball, Texas; Carolina Custom ATV of Apex, N. C.; Sawgie Bottom Outdoor Powersports of Leesville, La.; and Tuner Solutions of Deville, La., from March 2016 through September 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using vehicles with the recalled clutches and contact Gates for instructions on receiving a full refund plus an additional $300 to cover disassembly and reinstallation costs upon return of the recalled clutches to Gates. In addition, Gates will also ship a G-Force Belt at no cost to consumers who return the recalled clutches to Gates. The firm is contacting all known purchasers directly. Recall Date: 11/15/2016
- Piccadilly Beef Shepherd’s Pie: Piccadilly Fine Foods is recalling approximately 144 pounds of beef products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The products were produced with Worcestershire sauce that contains anchovies (fish), a known allergen which was not declared on the finished product label. The beef shepherd’s pie items were produced on Sept. 29, 2016 and Oct. 20, 2016. The following products are subject to recall: 4 cases of 8 oz. plastic sealed packages containing “BEEF SHEPHERD’S PIE With Vegetables, Made with Beef Chuck Steak,” with a case and lot code of “295-16” and a package date of 10/21/2016; and 8 cases of 8 oz. plastic sealed packages containing “BEEF SHEPHERD’S PIE With Vegetables, Made with Beef Chuck Steak,” with a case and lot code of “274-16” and a package date of 9/30/2016. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 9216” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in California. The problem was discovered by FSIS inspection personnel during normal inspection activities on November 10, 2016. Products produced prior to September 29, 2016 used a different brand of Worcestershire sauce that did not contain anchovies as an ingredient. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Recall Date: 11/15/2016
- Grated Cheese: 4C Foods Corp. is voluntarily recalling 4C Grated Cheese, Homestyle Grated Cheese, and Cento Grated Cheese Brands due to possible contamination with Salmonella. Other 4C Foods products, including any other cheese products, are not impacted by this recall. This recall was of a nationwide distribution and includes the following products, which were packed in 6 oz. vacuum-sealed glass jars, with BEST BY dates between November 12, 2016 and November 12, 2018 and packaged in cases of either 6 or 12 jars per case: 4C All Natural Parmesan Grated Cheese (UPC 41387-33126); 4C All Natural Parmesan/Romano Grated Cheese (UPC 41387-37126); 4C All Natural 100% Imported Italian Pecorino Romano Cheese (UPC 41387-77126); 4C HomeStyle All Natural Parmesan Grated Cheese (UPC 41387-32790); 4C HomeStyle All Natural Parmesan/Romano Grated Cheese (UPC 41387-11627); 4C HomeStyle All Natural 100% Imported Italian Pecorino Romano Cheese (UPC 41387-12302); Cento Parmesan Grated Cheese (UPC 70796-90502); and Cento Romano Grated Cheese (UPC 70796-90501). Consumers are asked to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. - Projection Night Lights: LTD Commodities LLC is recalling its projection night lights because they can short circuit, posing shock and fire hazards to consumers. This recall involves color changing projection night lights with a rotating plug and dome top with LED lights that change colors from red, blue and green. “Made in China” and “0.6W 60Hz 120VAC” are etched in the plastic base of the night lights near the plug component. Recalled night lights were sold exclusively at LTD Commodities and The Lakeside Collection catalogs and online at www.ltdcommodities.com and www.lakeside.com from July 2016 through October 2016. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled projection night lights and contact the firm for instructions to receive a full refund including shipping. All known purchasers were notified directly about the recall. Recall Date: 11/15/2016
- Skidders Children’s Shoes: Skidders Footwear Inc. is recalling its children’s shoes because the rivets on the shoes have sharp edges, posing a laceration hazard. This recall involves Skidders Footwear children’s canvas tennis shoes sold in three sizes: 12M, 18M and 24M. The shoes have white rubber bottoms and come in three different colors: navy blue fabric with orange rivets and laces, gray fabric with green rivets and laces, and denim colored fabric with pink rivets and laces. Recalled shoes were sold exclusively at Meijer stores located in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Wisconsin, from August 2016 through October 2016. Consumers should immediately take the recalled shoes away from children and contact Skidders Footwear to receive a full refund. Recall Date: 11/16/2016
- The Popcorn Shoppe Popcorn: The Popcorn Shoppe is voluntarily recalling its Olde Tyme Recipe Popcorn Balls, Edwards Orchard Popcorn Balls and Edwards Orchard West Popcorn Balls (4 individually wrapped 5oz. popcorn balls in a clear plastic bag) due to an undeclared milk and soy allergen. This recall has been initiated due to the ingredient label not stating the milk and soy allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk and soy run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. Individuals exhibiting signs or symptoms of food bourne illness or allergies should contact a physician immediately. Products were available for sale at retail locations in Illinois and Ohio. Customers with a milk and/or soy allergies or sensitivity who have purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to The Popcorn Shoppe for a replacement. Recall Date: 11/16/2016
- GNC Women’s Ultra Mega Time Release Dietary Supplement: Nutra Manufacturing, Inc. (“Nutra”) announced that it is initiating a nationwide, voluntary recall of one lot of GNC Women’s Ultra Mega Time Release dietary supplement product sold in 180 count containers UPC 048107158910, lot number 3044FQ2024, with an expiration date of June 2018 due to the fact the product may contain an undeclared major food allergen, milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. This recall involves only GNC Women’s Ultra Mega Time Release 180 count with the lot number 3044FQ2024. The lot number can be found on the bottom of the product box and the side panel of the product label. No other GNC brand products or lots are part of the recall. The affected product was distributed starting in August 23, 2016 through the present and is packaged in an HDPE plastic bottle with a child resistant closure. If you are in possession of a bottle of GNC Women’s Ultra Mega Time Release180 count, please check the lot number on the product label and do not consume the product if it contains the 3044FQ2024 lot number. Instead, return the product to the GNC retail location where it was purchased for a full refund. Recall Date: 11/16/2016
- GFS® Cheese Manicotti: Request Foods, Inc. is recalling certain 68 oz. (4 LB 4 OZ) pans of GFS® Cheese Manicotti because the product inside may be Chicken Cannelloni, which contains egg allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The recalled Cheese Manicotti was distributed by Gordon Food Service to retail stores, restaurants and other foodservice operators in FL, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MO, OH, PA, TN, WI and WV. The pans are labeled as Cheese Manicotti but may have the Chicken Cannelloni product inside the pan. These mislabeled pans were distributed in cases/boxes marked as GFS® Chicken Cannelloni. Recalled products include: Individual TIN PANS of GFS® Cheese Manicotti with Julian lot code 15268 and CASES of GFS® Chicken Cannelloni with Julian lot code 15268. Only products with lot code 15268 are subject to this recall. Consumers who have sensitivity to eggs and have purchased affected product with lot code 15268 should not consume the products and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. - Pork Barbeque Products: Morty Pride Meats, Inc. is recalling approximately 237,891 pounds of pork barbeque products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The products were produced with Worcestershire sauce that contains soy, a known allergen which was not declared on the finished product label. The pork barbeque items were produced and packaged from Nov. 15, 2014 through Nov. 11, 2016. The following products are subject to recall: 5-pounds of vacuum sealed bags of “Morty Pride Pork Barbeque, Electronically Cooked;” and 12-ounce plastic cups of “Morty Pride Premium Pork Barbeque, Electronically Cooked.” The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 6668” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to institutions and retail locations in North Carolina and South Carolina. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. - Dried Pork Products: La Quercia is recalling approximately 932 pounds of cured, dried pork loin products due to insufficient dehydration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. Insufficient dehydration could lead to an outgrowth of harmful bacteria. The whole and sliced pork loin items were produced on various dates between June 3, 2016 and Nov. 2, 2016.
