Questions Surround Placebo Used in Clinical Trials

In a statement released by the American College of Pediatricians (The College) in January 2016, there have been two case report series (a total of six cases) published since 2013 potentially linking one of the College’s recommended HPV vaccines, Gardasil, to POF. As a precaution, the group is warning families that the methods used to test the vaccine were questionable and raises doubts as to whether the placebos were appropriately developed.

According to their statement, the College remains committed to the health and well-being of all children. Although there has not been a noticeable rise in POF cases in a number of years since widespread use of the vaccine began, the College claims that there are legitimate concerns between the vaccines and a possible association with POF. At the time of the College’s statement, the number of reported cases to the vaccine adverse reaction database (VAERS) was 213 and almost 90 percent of those cases were associated with Gardasil. Despite concerns, the American Cancer Society and the State of Rhode Island continue to push for young women to receive the vaccine.

How an HPV Vaccine Attorney Can Help

Vaccine makers have a duty to provide safe products. If there are risks of harm associated with their products, they also must provide adequate warnings. If a vaccine maker fails to fulfill this duty, it could be held liable in lawsuits for injuries that may result.

People injured by unsafe vaccines may be eligible to recover money for:

  • Medical Expenses
  • Lost Wages
  • Pain and Suffering

The families of those who have died may be eligible to recover money for funeral expenses and the pain that comes with losing a loved one.
