Attorneys Discuss Lawn Mower Recall Due to Injury Hazard

lawn mower recallWhen purchasing products, consumers have rights – the most basic of which is the ability to use the product as intended without injury or harm. Manufacturers have legal obligations to design and produce products that are not dangerous or defective. However, the reality is that sometimes products fail without warning, causing catastrophic and life-threatening injuries or complications and prompting manufacturers to issue recalls removing the products from the market.

If you or someone you love has been injured due to a defective product, you may be entitled to file a product liability lawsuit against the manufacturer and seek compensation for your condition. Contact Attorney Group to learn more about your legal rights.

Recent Lawn Mower Recall Update

Most recently, Toro has issued a lawn mower recall for its TurfMaster and TimeMaster products due to the potential for the equipment to cause injury. Consumers are advised to cease using these products unless they are otherwise instructed and to avoid reselling the equipment to other parties. The products were manufactured in Mexico and sold nationwide from November 2012 through 2013 and cost between $999 and $1,799, according to the lawn mower recall statement issued by the company.

The Toro lawn mower recall involves roughly 34,500 units sold in the U.S. and includes 2013 Toro TurfMaster 30” and 2013 Toro TimeMaster 30” lawn mowers with the following serial and model numbers:

  • Model number 22200 with serial numbers between 313000101 to 313007146
  • Model number 20200 with serial numbers between 313000101 to 313007366
  • Model number 20199 with serial numbers between 313000101 to 313020271

According to reports and the recall statement, the manufacturer has received 10 cases of the blades in these products malfunctioning or breaking. However, no injuries have been reported to date. Consumers in possession of the lawn mowers should contact the manufacturer for a free repair.

Product Liability Claims Not Limited to Lawn Mower Recall

Unfortunately, however, product liability claims do not only involve lawn mower recalls. Hercules issued a recall for its All-Trac tire series after learning that the tires had a potential to separate from the tread, leaving drivers defenseless and unable to control their vehicles and sometimes resulting in collisions and injuries. Attorneys affiliated with Attorney Group also represent victims of Blitz gas can explosions. According to plaintiffs, the plastic red gas cans have the potential to explode and cause fire as they were not manufactured with flame arresters.

Additionally, product liability claims may include dangerous drugs that cause adverse or life-threatening complications in patients as well as defective medical devices that have been linked to reports of injury or death. Each one of these cases falls into the product liability category, and if plaintiffs can prove their condition is the direct result of these products, they may be entitled to seek compensation for their injuries including pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages.
